I loved those days.

These books are amazing. They definitley deserved the Eisner award they recieved, not just because Gerard is hot and lots of teenage girls have been exposed to the realm of comic books, but also because no hates these comics. I was at my local comic book store last night and not even the picky comic snob who works the register could hate them. It’s the biggest honor one could recieve: comic book guy’s approval. Congratz!

Hi, I just came across this site and had a question for other fans of this amazing series. I’m sure this topic has already come up several times but I’m too lazy to read through all the previous posts (please, forgive me). Anyway, I’m just curious about your thoughts on an ideal cast for the inevitable motion picture (as well as a director). This may be a little too ‘on the nose’ but I think Tim Burton or Terry Gilliam could provide the appropriate aesthetic for the material (I sure would love to see Gilliam tackle a comic book film). Although, I know Gerard has stated that he prefers to make the less obvious choice. What do you think?

For some reason, I cant get enough Umbrella Academy, I never really had a favorite, other then Batman when I was a kid, but Umbrella Academy is the best comic I ever read, Honestly! and there are a lot of Great books out there. The Umbrella Academy is a GREAT book, Gabriel and Gerard did a great job!

Btw.. In my opinion, this should be Gerards choice.. Not ours. But if you crave what we think: I believe Gerard should be in it.. Or direct it. Even if he hasn’t had further experiences in directing..

Even though number 6 died fast and is not shown much in the comic ,i think he will be shown later and he is one of the 2 character in umbrella academy with the coolest design,the 2 most strange,sci-fi and unique characters are number 6 and number 1,number 6’s power is so unique and unseen elsewhere

Hi there I’ve got a question I haven’t been able find the answer to anywhere and was wondering if anyone could help.

In Dallas, when Seance digs up Dr Pogo’s grave, why is he not there and why is there a Temps agent buries there instead?

Where did Pogo go and how did the Seance know the agent would be there?

To Benny Q: Probably Nr.5 switched the bodes. To what end only Gerard knows.

I believe that Pogo’s role in the Story has not yet come to an end, and there for has gone missing.

Seance has the ability to contact and chanel the dead with the use of a weegie board, and so he most likely “Spoke” to Pogo, and Pogo told him what Nr.5 did.

But now I have a question: does anyone know what Diego’s Powers are? (besides pissing Luther of and getting his face punched in)

The Umbrella Academy books are so amazing. Apocolypse Suite has to be my favourite, because I’m totally hooked on the idea that something as pure white as violin music could destroy the world. The artwork is so beautiful, the storyline is amazing. TUA deserves all the praise it gets.
My favourite member of TUA has to be either No. 5 or The Séance. They’re brilliant.
But Hazel and Cha Cha are just the best. They rule supreme.

Regarding Diego, This from wikipedia:

“He has the ability to hold his breath indefinitely and has demonstrated a strong affinity for knife-throwing.”

I always viewed him as like the Batman in that he has top physical fitness and use that as his “power”.

Number 6 is the Horror, or Ben Hargreeves. He has monsters under his skin from another dimension. There is a statue of him out the front of their house but no reason is given for his death. No doubt more will come of his character as the series unfolds.

I’d guess the Horror represents ice addicts who feel like they have things crawling under their skin. But just a guess.

No.6 was Ben Hargreeves. He supposedly died on the day TUA fought the Eiffel Tower. His name was “The Horror”, and he had tentacle-like appendages coming our of his torso.
Before the Academy was destroyed in the Apocolypse, Ben had a statue in the grounds. It was replaced with a mural of Dr Pogo when Vanya killed him.

i read the umbrella academy in the trade paperback version with all of them, but i didnt find any personal notes of Sir Reginal Hargreeves about the characters, or an excerpt from the Encyclopedia Umbrellica which i read were both in the first issue
am i missing something?

Oh god, I’m so hooked. I bought Vol. 1 and 2 and read them both the day that I got them and I NEVER do that. I usually like to take my time, but with this series it’s just so easy to get lost with it.
It kinda goes by the saying “All good things come to those who wait.” You get a tiny bit of the background in the beginning but as the series goes on, you continue to piece together their history, like how at the end of some of the comics you get a tiny snippet of the characters when they were kids doing something goofy or their “dad” being an ass. I love that about The Umbrella Academy. I also like the merch that they’re selling. Really want that frigging coffee cup.

I can’t wait for the next volume to come out.
