I must admit, I had higher expectations for the first issue. Gerard’s always been a theatrical person, and it seems like he always wants to start things off with a BANG!
However, after reading the first issue, I was left confused, unsure, and a little worried if the rest of it would be like this.
Needless to say, Gerard and Gabriel came through. The artwork is, needless to say, cleanly messy, and Gerard’s story-telling weaved together to make perfect sense. I reread the first issue, and now that I get almost everything, I can relax and enjoy it a bit more.
All I can say now is that I can’t wait until I can get my hands on more issues. I really need to find a comic book shop in my town. And anyone who seems unsure of whether to read it or not, read it. Not because it’s made by ‘oh ehm gee GERARD of My CHEM RoManCe!’, but because the story’s unique, which shows as a reflection from MCR’s music, the artwork is nice, and overall, it’s a good comic book series.
Though you won’t read this, very nice job guys >.o

alright, i’ll admit i only picked up this comic b/c i’m a huge mcr fan, but why is everyone praising way on his music and apparent sex appeal when this blog is supposed to be about the comic? O_o
i really enjoyed this series from what i’ve read so far. my comic shop only had 1, 2, and 5 (because that makes so much sense) so i have to wait for the other three to be ordered. it sucks, because i love the story and want to read more, but if i read 5 now it’ll screw everthing up… grr…

Wow what can I say…. I’m speechless, there is nothing I can say or do to tell you how amazing you and your comics are. But what I can say to you is that I’m not just another fan and I’m not just another girl that leaves thousands of ! on you page either. I respect you guys and I’m NOT obsessed. I just love art and I have been working my fingers to the bone just to get to where you guys are right now. Of course the way I work is NOTHING IN COMPARISON to what you guys do for us. i have just read The Apocolypse Suite #1 and…IT WAS AWSSOME!! and i find it absolutely teribble that it had to end…it made me sad. =( . but i cant wait till the next one! Seance is ma fave character!
WoW! What an awsum comic book! Gabriel Ba is such an amazing artist and Gerard Way has such creative ideas! I must admit that i only bought the comic because of Gerard Way, but i’m so glad I did! I wish I could find more comic books with this dark gothic style. This series really inspired me to do more with my art and maybe evn have a career in comics.

I don’t get why everyone is cussing on here , why can’t people Love something without feeling obligated to speak like that?I Love My Chemical Romance too , but it’s in a way that I don’t think most people can match because their music really did save my life , which in turn gave me the strength to carry on and even to stand up to things and be out spoken about my opinion to things that I think are wrong.so all I have to say is that for one , you should be a little more than embarassed about that language , and two Thank MCR for what they’ve done not Brag about it like it’s some great feat for you.THANK YOU MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE FOR WRITING & COMPOSING THE MUSIC THAT TRULY DID SAVE MY LIFE.

the umbrella academy is amazing. its such a interesting,abstract, but creative story. i dnt have all of them yet since i lost track of when they came out, n then the comic book store didnt have it blah blah blah. so im planning on getting the book that has all the stories (: gerard is such an amazing writer and i love the story. the artwork is AMAZING i love it. dont stop makin comics! <3

I got the graphic novel on the 1st September (soft cover). I was so pleased with myself. Have you any idea how difficult it is to find The Umbrella Academy anywhere in Greater Manchester (that’s in England n00b)?
Now I’ve finished reading it, it’s doing a cycle of my friends: Abi, Gemma, Beth, Cathy, Lindsey (lol, I know), Sam (guy Sam)… Then I get it back.
I have to say, the character I like most is The Seance. He’s sort of like me: morbid but in a hyper, I don’t give a damn way… and he’s cute. (No-one else agrees with me on that point… *sigh* Silly, Silly insignificant people).
I do like My Chemical Romance’s music, but the main reason that I wanted to read it was because I’m a grpahic novel freak. I’m obsessed with The Sandman Chronicles (Neil Gaimen, and REALLY good if anyone wants to know. Go read one, right now, or you’ll regret not doing so), and I was tol that NG had given The Umbrella Acadmey a good review, so naturally I wanted to read it.
What I really want to know, is what happened to The Horror. I saw his drawing in “but the past ain’t through with you yet” and it made me smile. Especially with the fluffy Japanese monster toy. It’s just too cruel for him to be dead. You already killed Pogo and The Monocle. Kill someone horrible like 5. ( I could have throttled him for “I never liked you Vanya”).
Anyway, back to whatever it was I was saying before… I give it a thumbs up. Gerard Way has earned my respect for him as a writer (I was a bit doubtful at first. Bad Kinny).
It’s raining right now, and all I’m thinking about is: I hope Gemma didn’t get it wet. That would make me sad. My brother got one of my Sandmans wet; it stared at me tragically from the radiator for two days. The ink didn’t run though.
I feel really sorry for Gerard now though, thinking of all the stupid, fan girls comments and letters he’s going to get about it and “WHEN’S THE NEXT ONE?” notes.
Look people: Ifyou’re going to comment, CONSTRUCTIVENESS IS KEY. I am an aspiring writer, and you have no idea how irritating “I love it, more soon?” comments are. They suck. Flamers are another annoying thing. If you’re going to criticize, point out how they can improve.
Points for Gerard: 1. Explain The Horror. He confuses me.
2. 5 seems rather 2-D at the moment. Help.
3. Ignore any stupid fangirls teenie comments. They suck.

OMG, i love The Umbrella Academy and My Chemical Romance even more. i was The Rumor (the uniform from when she was ten) for Halloween. I cannot wait til Dallas comes out. The question is on the picture when Vanya (The White Violin) says “–And Tomorrow We End The World.” They never did say how Ben (The Horror) was killed but i hope that they mention something about it in Dallas.
