UT MALUM PLUVIA

by Clan Destine on September 18, 2007

It took me a minute to poorly translate the Latin UT MALUM PLUVIA into DO EVIL RAIN JUST AS EVIL RAINS or is it WHEN EVIL RAINS

????????????????

It’s probably not 100% accurate but it is probably close.

Haahaha! that’s pretty funny…. when evil rains down you need an umbrella that will stop the evil. or an umbrella academy.

what witty words.

I’ll ask my latin teacher what it really is

ps: mcr & gerard way rocks

I will also ask, I think the phrase would be translated as “When….”. I’ll update this tomorrow.

To quote my latin teacher:

“I double-checked a dictionary and I don’t think “ut malum pluvia” means anything. “Pluit” would be “it rains,” so to say something like “when evil rains” would be something like, “cum malum pluit.” Not sure what the Umbrella Academy is, but it sounds like someone just looked up separate words with no knowledge of Latin grammar or morphology. Just a guess.”

Very funny. Tell your Latin teacher we at TheUmbrellaAcademy.com thank her for her effort.

When I first saw this, I was totally confused. ‘Malumn’ made sense, but I was at a loss for the rest of it. I think I asked my Latin teacher about this already, as well as about the 30STM logo ‘Provehito in altum’, and she said she did not recognize the verb, provehito. Hmmm. Seems like Latin translations don’t always match up, eh?

“Ut Malum Pluvia” means “When Evil Rains” in Latin

according to Johnathon Riviera.

though it sounds like whoever put it together didnt really know what they were talking about. xD

hey i like the phrase “when evil rains”, if that’s what it means. if not i think it’s open for interpretation as long as you like the way it sounds. to me that is perfect. i love this comic. i really love kraken especially– i love his character so much that i have started a tattoo on my arm of him.

I’m a big fan of TUA too. I fall in love with Seance character. He’s so cool and mysterious. Can anyone tell me if he had a crush on Rumor?

haha well I think it makes sense. “When Evil rains you need The Umbrella Academy” hehe… no? sounds a little pulp action and film noir, don’t you think? xD

And well maybe yes, The Seance may have some sort of crush in The Rumor, but that didn’t stop him for having a baby in Vietnam hahaxD

(note: do you think that baby could be of some importance in the story? like the origins of all the superhuman babies and stuff? maybe Klaus is his own father or something?

note 2: do you think Gerard and Gabriel could make a story arc involving another group of superhuman people that were born like the Umbrella brats? sounds promising, like a Spidey-Venom thing :D )
